The beat radiates from the unit's four touch-sensitive drum pads and four sound-effects pads (with 16 effects), which combine to create a huge variety of sounds. To further mix things up, Yamaha added 55 assignable pulse-code modulation (PCM) voices, 100 PCM rhythm styles, and 10 percussion sets (nine preprogrammed and one user-assignable).
